How To Get Rid of Skin Hyperpigmentation or Discoloration

A common beauty concern for most ladies is skin discoloration/hyper-pigmentation, particularly in areas such as; underarms, bikini/intimates, and face. The inability to wear sleeveless outfits, bikini thongs or step out without makeup, we all dislike this.

Some of the major causes of discolorations (darkened skin) in these areas are; shaving, use of hair removal creams, poor tweezing, use of aluminium deodorants/antiperspirants, wearing tight clothes that cause friction in these areas and lack of proper exfoliation.

If you already have discolored skin, here are your options to fix it;

  • Stop shaving.
  • Stop using hair removal creams, there is no herbal or natural hair removal cream, gel or powder, they all contain ‘thioglycolic derivatives’ which is the main ingredient that darkens skin over time.
  • Always use sharp slanted tweezers if you must tweeze, and pick the hair from the root
  • Aluminum Deodorants are one of the major causes of discolored underarms, switch to natural aluminum free deodorants instead.
  • Wear clothes that are loosely fitted around your underarms and bikini line
  • Exfoliate at least twice a week to remove dead cells and brighten your skin.
  • Use a skin lightening/brightening product which is safe for privates and underarms.
